Brian Toay was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts and earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Brian is licensed to practice law in North Dakota, Minnesota, and the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota.
Brian joined Wold Johnson in 2007, having previously operated his own firm in Moorhead, Minnesota. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Galen Vaa in Moorhead.
Brian and his wife, Kristin, live in Fargo with their two children. The family is actively involved with the FM Gators swim team, where Brian serves on the Board of Directors. Outside of work, Brian enjoys outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and hiking.
